2 Phenom East Hills Restaurants

I have lived in Grand Rapids for over 20 years and I am just now discovering the East Hills area. This up and coming area is at the cross streets of Cherry and Diamond and Lake Drive. There are two delicious restaurants there that I would specifically like to talk about: The Greenwell and Marie Catrib's.
The Greenwell:  • 924 Cherry St. SE • Grand RapidsMichigan 49506
This place is truly amazing. The owners of this earthy, modern restaurant also own the Bistro Bella Vita, which is in my top 5 fave restaurants in GR. The beauty of this place is that all the food is local. The veggies are from local farms and there is a wide array of local wines and craft beers. A couple menu highlights? No. 1- Mac and Cheese. Holy cow this is delicious with big twisted noodles that have tons of yummy cheese in the middle and veggies such as tomatoes, onions, peppers and mushrooms (which I prefer left out), and fried bread crumbs to top it off. It's a bit pricey, but for the amount and quality, it is perfect at $16. There is a goat cheese and Nantucket bread appetizer if you want to really want to start things out right. Their burger is also a great choice with cheese and bacon with tortilla chips on the side for only $12. Indoor/ outdoor seating and a leed certified building makes this place straight up wonderful.

Do you enjoy a healthy gourmet meal? Do you enjoy the "granola" atmosphere? Look no farther. This restaurant has some of the best food I have ever tasted in my life. Their menu is mainly vegetarian and vegan but I would definitely not hesitate to bring my meat and potatoes loving father, because the food just tastes so good. Go for breakfast and try the bakers omelette or the caramelized bananas and penut butter stuffed french toast. Don't forget to try their Turkish coffee if you want a real pick me up. They also have a deli area if you want to grab food and run! Prices are great at about $8 for a meal. This place is a GR classic.
