Hop Cat - 25 Ionia Avenue Southwest, Grand Rapids, MI 49503 (616) 451-4677 Today was my little brother's birthday and we were trying to figure out where to go for lunch. He loves a good sandwich and fries and I just wanted to sit outdoors in the shade on this beautiful, hot 80 degree day. Hop Cat was the perfect choice. They are actually known for their extensive beer menu and famously delicious crack fries. You can probably google them and read about all the awards they've gotten for their beer, but I'm not too much of a beer person so I can not site this. The atmosphere is great- a mix of hippie beer culture and business classy. My fave menu items include the bruschetta turkey burger, crack fries, mac and cheese, the angry bird sandwich (buffalo sauce on fried chix), bruschetta, and the hippie wrap (vegetarian). My fave beer is the girly Rasberry lambic when it's on tap (which it almost always is). One time we were there for a Michigan State basketball game and around half time the owner (apparently a huge State fan) announced that if State won, everyone there would get any one beer off the menu for only $1. They won, we got shozzled. Great times at Hop Cat for sure.
