Recently, my very best friend in the world got married, and her venu was the beautiful Goei Center. It was the perfect venu so let me give you a little info:
Where? The Goei center is located at 818 Butterworth st, Grand Rapids, MI...near John Ball Zoo. It is the same address as Eastern Floral. The owner, Bing Goei, bought this huge warehouse type building. Half of this building houses Eastern Floral, the other half a large reception area. Another back part is home to a few offices.
The inside of the reception area is huge. There are two large "ballroom" type areas, all wood flooring, brick walls, arched windows and doorways, wooden beams and open rafters. The front area is fitting with two mini waterfalls, leather couches, wicker furniture and a coy pond. There are also a lot of green plants around which make things a bit more ethereal.
How much?
A Saturday will cost you around $3000 or a little more, but my friend had her wedding on a Thursday and paid about $1500 less...which is a great way to save money for catering and/or a photo booth! You can rent chandeliers for $150 per as well, which was a beautiful addition. The one thing you must stick to is Eastern Floral flowers...no outside flowers are allowed in.
How was the wedding day?
It went perfectly. They have a special room with a large table and chairs, mirror, and clothing rack for the ladies to get ready in. All the photos were done inside the air conditioned Goei center, because it picturesque inside. Both the wedding AND reception took place there...it is that big. The events planner helping my friend was wonderful and extremely helpful. All in all a great experience with the Goei Center.
