What does the GR comedy scene look like? Believe it or not... It's growing. With events like LaughFest [takes place in March] that bring in famous comedians such as Kevin Hart, Bill Cosby, Betty White, Jim Gaffigan and more Grand Rapids is getting on the map little by little. There are a couple places you can catch comedy acts.
1. DeVos Performance Hall has a line up of events which include comedians every month. You can find a complete lineup @ http://devosperformancehall.com/arena-schedule .
Daniel Tosh is coming up on June 7!
2. Dr.Grin's is on the 3rd floor of The BOB downtown. You can find comedy acts here every
Thursday- Friday with performances at 8PM and 10PM. Tickets are usually $12-$15 unless it is
bigger name.
3.River City Improv: This is an improv comedy group from Calvin College Alumni.
They perform mostly at Calvin and tickets are about $10.
I saw these guys perform at the Women's Literary Club in GR.
They were defintitely funny and worth seeing.
A great thing about this show is that it is pretty clean humor where
most comedians need to add crude humor.
For more info check out: http://www.rivercityimprov.com/
4.Dog Story Theatre: Odd one for sure but a bunch of girls and
I went here for a bachelorette party. The comedy show was an improv
group from Chicago and after a few martinis we were loving it.
I think tickets were about $10 cash at the door.
You can find more about the events at Dog Story Theatre at www.Dogstorytheatre.com.

Founder's Brewery
Founder's Brewery is making some changes folks! Expansion changes that is. I went there last Friday and the seating area is now larger AND they have a merchandise store?!? I was super stoked about this- shopping, eating, and drinking all in one stop. And of course the store is open until 11PM so you can grab a couple of delish beer and decide that a US made Founder's sweatshirt or tshirt is the best thing ever lol- at least I got sucked into that. It looks like they are under even more construction in the front- which I'm sure you can learn more about if you check out their website or chat with one of the waiters. Hopefully construction is finished byFounder's Fest June 22!!!!! At which you will most certainly find me :)
Graydon's Crossing
Graydon's Crossing is a little pub on Plainfield, just off of the corner at Leonard. The menu is top notch with an Indian twist. For example the spinach dip has a curry taste and the nachos are served with a side of peanut sauce/curry tasting dip. TV's are good and they often put on futbol (aka soccer) matches. Graydon's has an extensive beer, wine and liquor menu as well. It's a good chill pub scene with great food...how can you go wrong?

Rockwells Deck Status:: OPEN!
I've mentioned how much I love this restaurant before but I am a happy girl this spring because I finally had sushi and sangria on Rockwells/ Republic deck! Open sky. Dynamite (that's actually it's name on the menu- shrimp tempura delicious) sushi, red sangria, one of my best friends and life is good.

I grabbed this picture out a window at Spectrum Health Hospital. It was the end of a gray, rainy day so it was phenomenal to see.

Need a Hair Cut?

1. Salon Re [940 E. Fulton] : Of course I need to give props to my current salon. My girl Alisha works there. They have a great atmosphere and awesome people. The prices are more reasonable for a contemporary salon too. They have good coffee, tea, and flavored watered AND they have home made tasty treats that come a trifle...aka CAKE! Apparently the owner's mom makes these things and this salon is almost worth going to just for a slice of her cake. I guess the way to my heart is obvious lol. Check out their fb page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Salon-Re
Another side note-kind of having to do with this salon: My girl Alisha ( a stylist at the salon) has a non profit called Making Smile's For Hope. They make headbands, hats, masks and all sorts of fun things for kids in the children's hospital- specifically the kiddos who have lost their hair from chemo rounds. Check out the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Making-Smiles-for-Hope
2. Pure Salon [940 Monroe NW]: Loved this place. Super chic, great stylists. It's located in
Boardwalk condos- which are amazing ps. The only reason I left this salon is that my stylist had an
assistant so she could do 2 people at once. I didn't like this because she always seemed rushed
and no one wants their stylist seeming rushed. They are fairly expensive depending on the stylist
